Is Organic Better?
There
is a common misconception that organic farming is "pesticide-free."
While organic farmers promote their use of non-chemical pest control
such as crop rotation and beneficial insects, they are allowed to
use a number of toxic chemical pesticides. The fundamental difference
between organic and synthetic pesticides is not their toxicity,
but their origin- whether they are extracted from plants, insects,
minerals or are chemically synthesized; and how long they stay in
the soil. They are still poisons; wash fruits and vegetables before
you eat them. Talk to the farmers, know what you are eating!
